Looking for a plan for the fall

OK, I went and signed up for the Grand Rapids Marathon on Oct. 17 now I need a plan.
I didn't follow any plan for this marathon I'm running in 2 weeks.
I've been looking at a few plans.  The thing that is going to be difficult is this school thing.  I have no idea what days or times I'll be going to school this fall.  I run with my group on Thursday nights and I'm not going to change that.  One plan I am looking at has hill workouts or speed work or such on Thursdays.  I prefer long runs on Saturdays but most plans put the long runs on Sundays.
I used to run with a group on Tuesday mornings and I would like to get back to that this summer when I am not working on Tuesday.  They do speed work.
One plan has rest days on Mondays another has rest day on Fridays.
I have no idea what to do.
Maybe I should wait until after my marathon before I worry about the next one.
Tomorrow my next semester starts.  I am only taking one class.  It's been so nice to not have homework hanging over my head.
Well, I'm tired and heading to bed.

  1. if you're worried about the particular day of the week something lands on, you can always switch things around. As long as you sandwich easy days (or rest days) in between your hard workouts. If you like a plan and it's long run is sunday, you can do it saturday; just move the work out on friday to another day if its speedwork.

  2. I know. I think I know which plan I am going to follow.
I thought I'd have more time between this marathon & the start of training for the next one but it's only 3 wks.

  3. Look forward to meeting you at the FINISH LINE in October.

  4. WOW! The race director commented on my blog!! COOL!!
After last weekend's Bayshore marathon I changed my mind; I never want to do this again!!!!
I'm sure I'll change my mind after I've had some time. I run with a group on Thursday nights at Running Fit in Ann Arbor and several of the others are also running Grand Rapids and they are all starting to talk about it and getting all excited about it so I am sure that will rub off on me eventually!! I bought one of the pink shirts you were selling at the Riverbank expo and they all just LOVE it!! (even the dudes!)
